Safety expert needed for a meat manufacturing business

About our client

Our client is a large Australian meat manufacturing company. They are looking to recruit a safety expert to implement, coach, mentor and build a solid safety culture in the business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will also be responsible for 

• Development of systems, processes, and knowledge to support the delivery of OH&S services, first aid and emergency management across the site consisting of both high and low risk environments
• Ownership of group H&S critical risk management program, to proactively identify, monitor and manage critical risks
• Developing and implementing systems and standards on hazard and risk management and accident prevention strategies.
• Internal and external H&S reporting and auditing. 
• Implementing and delivering an organisation culture focused on consistently improving safety, health, and environmental performance. 
• Supporting the broader organisation to embrace a culture of health and safety.
• Building relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external 

Skills Required

• Relevant degree or Tafe qualification
• Demonstrated relevant experience in manufacturing environment (meat manufacturing preferred but not mandatory)
• Positive and engaging leader with a strong background in health, safety, and wellbeing. 
• Plan programs that align with OH&S requirements to reduce accidents and other injuries that are related to work
• Report and Monitor Safety programs
• Safety Inductions for new starters
• Ensure First Aiders and Wardens are trained, competent and confident to undertake their duties
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• You have a passion for continuous improvement, and taking responsibility for initiating outcomes
